Moreton Ford

In the course of its 30-mile journey from Evershot to Poole Harbour, the River Frome passes through many attractive spots, but none matches this ford. Easy to get to and on a public bridleway, it is a popular alternative to the beach for paddling and generally messing about by the water, or just for sitting peacefully.

Visitors share the water with families of ducks, but fish are more elusive. Except after long periods without rain, the ford is quite deep, so don’t try to take your family saloon through it.

The ford is spanned by a narrow bridge that in one direction opens up walks on broad tracks though woodland, and in the other leads to the village of Moreton.
